Cooking for winter Cookbook
Many living things slow down in the winter as it is a cold season. Our physical bodies slow down as well as to conserve energy and to build strength to prepare for spring. During this time we have hearty appetites and lower metabolic rate enabling nutrients to be stored easily, so that the stored chi can be used in times of stress and change, or to heal. Avoid eating to many raw foods during the winter as these tend to cool the body. Try emphasizing on warming foods, warm hearty soups, and grains and nuts.
The ancient Asians believed that one should live in harmony with the natural cycles of their environment, thus slowing down with the darkness of winter.
The recipes in this seasons booklet are packed with information and a list of appropriate foods to eat, a Qigong exercise to follow for the kidneys, simple cost effective recipes for your health, and more.
